Blue Skye Farm is pleased and proud to announce that we will be participating for the 9th year in the Annual Hospitality for Habitat promotion sponsored by the Maine Innkeepers Association. Once again, proceeds from this year’s program will be given to Maine chapters of Habitat for Humanity. The idea is simple: Blue Skye offers you a room at half the normal rate and in return you give us a check for $35 made payable to Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org) There is a 2 night minimum stay requirement.

An Introduction to Needle Felting by Kariska Puchalski:

This is a one day absolute beginners’ workshop given by noted Maine jewelry designer, Kariska Puchalski. It is designed to be an introduction to a craft that will give you an outlet for your creativity as well as a source of gifts and toys to delight your friends and family. No need for special tools or materials. Everything you need will be provided.

Needle Felting is a technique using wool and a barbed needle to form three dimensional objects, or to decorate a surface. You can make objects, animals, food items, dolls, decorate a wool jacket for example, or embellish a pillow case. By the end of the day, you will have made, under Kariska’s guidance, one three dimensional object and one two dimensional piece. Kariska will supply the tools and materials. You bring your imagination!

Kariska Puchalski:

Summering on a little island 12 miles off the Maine coast (to which she sails back and forth singlehandedly!) Kariska is inspired to feature mother nature’s artistry in much of her work, examples of which can be seen in local galleries as well as the Island Institute. But entertaining grandchildren on an isolated island brought out a new form of creativity – needle felting. “I have always enjoyed working with my hands, and finding needle felting has been the most fun of anything I've done, from building shoes to designing stone jewelry.

Kariska’s workshops are relaxed and fun and a Blue Skye stay is always a restorative break from ‘real life’. Do join us!

The offer: Following a Friday evening arrival, the workshop will start at 9:00 after breakfast on Saturday. There will be lunch and teatime breaks. The workshop will end at 5:30 when drinks will be served, followed by a fireside supper.

$299 per person to include Artist’s Workshop, 2 nights Bed and Breakfast, lunch, English Tea and crumpets, Drinks and a Fireside supper. This price is based on 2 sharing a room. (Single room supplement: $25.00) There is a 10% discount for a 4 person booking so bring your friends! Weekends in January and March are available for this workshop.
